Well, it's official I've joined the blogosphere. Between reading my friends' travel blogs and others written by friends at home, I thought I better join the club, especially since so many people keep asking me, "How is college?" Today marks one month since I moved into the dorms here at the University of Oregon. My dorm is really nice since it's the newest building on campus. I'm hoping to post some pictures soon once I get my camera back from the repair people.
I named this blog as such for the following reason: By habit, I'm a "do-er." I always have a ton going on between classes, studying, extracurriculars, and attempting to have a social life. Now that I've got my feet on the ground in school, my challenge is to figure out how to balance it all. I'm taking 14 credits this term, and am feeling oh so grateful that I chose to drop my Poli Sci class during the second week of the term, or frankly, I think I would being going crazy right now. I honestly can't believe we're moving into week five already! The quarter system really does go by quickly. Right now I'm knocking out my Gen Ed requirements and also taking some intro classes for my two majors - Urban Planning and International Studies.
Exciting things are on the horizon for next term. A new opportunity showed up today for me to maybe do an independent study project with my Human Geography prof next term. It would involve doing more research on all the countries I've traveled to recently -- Mexico, Uruguay, Mali, and Nicaragua. It's merely a concept, but I'm anxious to see what might become of it.
Other things going on... I just accepted a job as a "Duck Caller" in the Annual Giving Office here on campus. I will be working there four nights a week making fundraising calls to parents and alumni. I'm excited about this because people say I'm a natural on the phone. I also just pledged to Alpha Phi Omega, a co-ed service fraternity here on campus. More on that later.
Back to my Spanish project!
